Gram-positive cocci, elongated, often lanceolate. Occur singly, in pairs or in small
groups. Nonmotile.
Colonies on Columbia agar with sheep blood are small (1-2 mm), not
pigmented, translucent, shining and regular. Greening hemolysis. Turbid growth &
deposit  in liquid media.
Grows in the presence of 6.5% NaCl. Grows and produces blackening on bile
aesculin agar. Poor growth on Slanetz and Bartley medium containing 0.04% sodium
az ide. Grows well between 25 and 42 ºC. Addition of 5% CO
2 does not enhance
growth.
Isolated from sea water.
Unknown.
