Phylum Bacteroidota, Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Enterobacterales, Family Yersiniaceae, Genus Chimaeribacter,
Chimaeribacter arupi Rossi and Fisher 2020, type species of the genus.
Gram-negative, pleomorphic rods, 0.4-0.8 x 0.9-2.4 μm. Motile at 22 ºC but not at 35
ºC. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies produce a yellow pigment and may variably display three main
morphotypes: shiny medium sized (approx. 2 mm, at 24h and the most frequent),
large mucoid (approx. 4 mm, at 24h) and agar-pitting. Growth occurs readily at both
room temperature and 35 ºC in aerobic atmosphere on conventional media
such as SB, chocolate and MacConkey agar.
Isolated from clinical samples.
Undetermined.
