Gram-positive coryneform rods. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming. Mycolic acids are
produced.
Colonies are whitish, smooth and approximately 1–2 mm in diameter after 48 hours
incubation at 37 ºC on sheep-blood agar. Facultatively anaerobic. Non-haemolytic.
CAMP-negative.
Isolated from the heart of pigs (3-15 days old).

Fermentative metabolism.

reduction, oxidase, pyrrolidonyl arylamidase, trypsin, valine arylamidase, acid production from: adonitol, amygdalin, arabitol, arbutin,
L-arabinose, cellobiose, dulcitol, erythritol, fructose, L- and D-fucose, galactose, gentiobiose, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, gluconate,
glucose, glycogen, glycerol, N-acetyl-beta-glucosamine, inositol, inulin, lactose, lyxose, maltose, mannitol, mannose, melibiose,
