Gram-positive, short, irregularly rods. Motile.
Colonies are convex with entire edges, yellow, 1.0-2.0 mm in diameter on TSA in 48
hours at 25-30 ºC. CAMP test is positive. Facultatively anaerobic. Optimum growth
temperature is 25-30 ºC. Can grow at 15 ºC. No growh at 42 or 10 ºC.
Isolated from blood of healthy cows.

N-acetylglucosamine, L-arabinose, cellobiose, esculin, fructose, galactose, glucose, glycerol, glycogen, gentiobiose, lactose, lyxose,
maltose, D-mannose, melibiose, D-raffinose, rhamnose, ribose, salicin, sorbitol, sucrose, trehalose, D-turanose & D-xylose.
Negative results for cellulose hydrolysis, nitrate reduction, oxidase, Tween hydrolysis, Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from:
adonitol, D-arabinose, arabitol, erythritol, fucose, inositol, inulin, 2-ketogluconate, 5-ketogluconate, mannitol, melezitose, tagatose,
xylitol & L-xylose.
Variable results for acid production from gluconate.
