Gram-positive, short, irregularly rods. Motile.
Colonies are convex with entire edges, pale-yellow, 0.5-1.0 mm in diameter on TSA in
48 hours at 25-30 ºC. CAMP test is positive. Facultatively  anaerobic. Optimum growth
temperature is 25-30 ºC. No growh at 42 ºC.
Isolated from blood of healthy cows.

Description is based on API 50 CHL results, 2-15 days at 30 ºC.

Positive results for catalase, esculin hydrolysis, acid production from: amygdalin, arbutin, N-acetylglucosamine,  L-arabinose,  
cellobiose, esculin, fructose, galactose, glucose, gluconate, glycerol, glycogen, gentiobiose, inulin, 5-ketogluconate, lactose, lyxose,  
maltose, D-mannose, melibiose, D-raffinose, rhamnose, ribose, salicin, sucrose, trehalose, D-turanose & D-xylose.

Negative results for cellulose hydrolysis, oxidase, Tween hydrolysis, acid production from: adonitol, D-arabinose, arabitol, erythritol,  
fucose, inositol, 2-ketogluconate, melezitose, sorbitol, tagatose, xylitol & L-xylose.

Variable results for casein hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis, nitrate reduction, acid production from mannitol.
