Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive pleomorphic to short rods. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming. Mycolic
acids are present. Tuberculostearic acid is not produced.
Colonies on sheep blood Columbia agar are creamy and 0.5-2.0 mm in diameter
after 24 h at 37 ºC. Non-haemolytic. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from an anaerobic Bactec vial inoculated with an ankle aspirate from a 54- year-old man, probably with gout (urate crystals
present in the joint fluid) in Pilbara, West Australia.

N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, hippurate hydrolysis, lipase, lipophilism, alpha-mannosidase, nitrate reduction, oxidase, trypsin,
urease, valine arylamidase, Voges-Proskauer reaction, acid production from: arabinose, glycogen, inulin, lactose, maltose, mannitol,
