Gram-positive short diphteroids rods. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming. Mycolic acids
are present. Tuberculostearic acid is not produced.
Colonies on sheep blood Columbia agar after 24 h incubation at 37 ºC are convex,
slightly glistening and the diameter is 1 mm. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from nasal cavities of common seals (Phoca vitulina).

arylamidase, valine arylamidase, acid production from: adonitol, amygdalin, arabinose, arabitol, arbutin, cellobiose, dulcitol, erythritol,
fructose, fucose, gluconate, 2-ketogluconate, glycerol, glycogen, beta-gentiobiose, inositol, inulin, lyxose, mannitol, melibiose, methyl
alpha-D-glucoside, rhamnose, salicin, sorbitol, sorbose, starch, tagatose, trehalose, turanose, xylitol & xylose.

Variable results for leucine arylamidase, urease, acid production from: galactose, N-acetylglucosamine, lactose, raffinose & sucrose.
