Gram-positive, short, irregularly rods, arranged singly or in pairs, in angles, forming V
shapes. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are convex with entire edges, orange, opaque, moist, 2-4 mm in diameter.
Aerobic growth. Can grow in 2-5% NaCl media; weak growth in 6.5% NaCl. Optimum
growth temperature is 28 ºC. Can grow at 37 ºC.
Isolated from sewage.

Positive results for catalase, H2S production, starch hydrolysis, Tweens 20 (weak
reaction), 40, 60, 80 hydrolysis, acid production from: glucose, mannose & sucrose.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, gelatin hydrolysis, methyl red, Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from: L-arabinose,
galactose, inulin, melezitose, raffinose, rhamnose, ribose, trehalose & xylose.
