Gram-positive rod-shaped organisms. Nonspore-forming. Nonmotile.
On Columbia agar plates (bioMerieux) supplemented with 5% sheep blood at 37 ºC
in aerobic or anaerobic conditions the colonies are whitish, low convex, dry, rough, 1-
2 mm in diameter after 48 hours incubation. Haemolysis is negative. CAMP test is
negative. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from the choanae of the Golden eagles (Aquila chrysaetos).
Undetermined.

Most biochemical characters were tested on API Coryne, API 50CH, and API ZYM.

Positive results for acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase, catalase, esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8), pyrazinamidase, acid
production from: N-acetylglucosamine, fructose, mannose, galactose, glucose, glycerol & ribose.

Negative results for esculin hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis, alpha-glucosidase, beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, lipophilism,
nitrate reduction, oxidase, trypsin, urease, acid production from: adonitol, amygdalin, arabinose, arabitol, arbutin, cellobiose, erythritol,
fucose, beta-gentiobiose, glycogen, inositol, inulin, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, lactose, lyxose, maltose, melezitose, mannitol, melibiose,
raffinose, rhamnose, salicin, sorbitol, sorbose, sucrose, tagatose, trehalose, turanose, xylitol & xylose.
