Gram-positive short and irregular rods or coccoid cells.
Colonies are rough, slightly convex and white after 24 hours of anaerobic incubation
on Brucella HK blood agar. Growth also occurs on LBS (lactobacillus selective) and
CFAT (TSB, glucose, cadmium sulfate, sodium fluoride, neutral acriflavine, potassium
tellurite, basic fuchsin, defibrinated sheep blood-selective medium for actinomycetes)
agars. Growth temperature 25-45 ºC, optimum 37 ºC. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from dental plaque from hamsters fed with a high-carbohydrate diet.
