Gram-positive rods with branched structures in “Y” at the end (bifido-shaped). Non-
spore-forming. Non-motile.
Colonies are white, 1.0-2.5 mm in diameter on MRS agar after 48 h of anaerobic
incubation at 37
ºC. Grows at temperature 30-42 ºC (optimum 35-40 ºC), pH 4.0-6.0
(optimum pH 4.5-6.0). Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from the stool sample of a pygmy marmoset (Callithrix pygmaea).

cellobiose, D-fructose (weakly), D- and L-fucose (weakly), D-galactose, D-glucose, glycogen (weakly), inulin, D-lactose, D-mannitol,
maltose (weakly), D-mannose, N-acetylglucosamine, raffinose (weakly), D-ribose, D-sorbitol, starch, sucrose (weakly), trehalose,
D-turanose and D-xylose.

Negative results for alpha-arabinosidase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, beta-glucuronidase,
N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, serine arylamidase, acid production from melibiose.

Variable and weak results for rhamnose fermentation.
