Bifidobacterium felsineum Modesto, Puglisi, Bonetti, Michelini, Spiezio, Sandri, Sgobarti, Morelli and Mattarelli, 2020.
Gram-positive rods of various shapes, forming a branched structure with ‘Y’ at the
both side. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are white, smooth, opaque, 1.0-2.0 mm in diameter after 3 days of
anaerobic incubation on TPY agar. Non-haemolytic. Can grow at 22-48 ºC, optimally
at 37 ºC, not at 20 ºC. Grows at pH 4.0- 8.0, optimally at pH 7.0. Can grow under
aerophilic and microaerophilic conditions.
Isolated from faeces of an adult cotton top tamarin (Saguinus oedipus).
Undetermined.

Four novel taxa isolated from the faeces of the cotton top tamarin (Saguinus oedipus) and the emperor tamarin (Saguinus
imperator). Syst Appl Microbiol 41, 593-603.
