Gram-positive Y-shaped short and irregularly shaped rods, 2.4-3.8 / 1.2-1.3 µm.
Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are white, sleek and slightly convex on TOS-propionate agar (trans-
galactosylated oligiosaccharide); grow on MRS agar and in MRS broth. Can grow at
30-42 ºC,  optimally at 37 ºC. Grows at pH 5.0- 7.0, optimally at pH 7.0. Anaerobic.
Isolated from healthy human faeces.

Positive results for acid phosphatase, aesculin hydrolysis, esterase (C4), alpha- and beta-galactosidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase,
leucine arylamidase, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, acid production from amygdalin, arbutin, L-arabinose, cellobiose, aesculin,
D-fructose, D-galactose, gentiobiose, D-glucose, gluconate, glycogen, inulin, D-lactose, maltose, D-mannitol, melibiose, methyl
alpha-D-glucopyranoside, raffinose, salicin, starch, sucrose, trehalose, turanose and xylitol.

Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, catalase, cystine arylamidase, esterase lipase (C8), alpha-fucosidase, gelatin hydrolysis,
beta-glucuronidase, lipase (C14), alpha-mannosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, oxidase, trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin, valine
arylamidase, acid production from D-adonitol, D- and L-arabitol, D-arabinose, dulcitol, erythritol, D- and L-fucose, glycerol, inositol, 2-
and 5-ketogluconate, D-lyxose, D-mannose, methyl alpha-D-mannopyranoside, methyl beta-D-xylopyranoside, N-acetylglucosamine,
