Gram-positive short rods, 0,5-1.0/1-2 µm. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are convex, cream-coloured, smooth, translucent, 1 mm in diameter after 6
days of anaerobic incubation at 28
ºC on M144 agar (per litre: 23 g special peptone
Oxoid, 1 g soluble starch Merck, 5 g NaCl Merck, 0.3 g cysteine hydrochloride
Sigma-Aldrich, 5 g glucose Merck, 15 g agar Oxoid). Optimum growth temperature 28
ºC; range 4-37 ºC. Grows at pH 4.0-8.0. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from a household water kefir fermentation process, Belgium.
Undetermined.
