Forsyth, Lebbe, Rodriguez-Diaz, Logan and De Vos 2004.
Gram-positive, rods and coccoid rods, 0.5-0.8 x 1.0-2.0 µm, motile. Produce central /
paracentral / subterminal, ellipsoidal endospores in swollen sporangia.
Colonies are creamy / off-white with opaque center, smooth, flat, 1 mm in diameter
after 2 days on TSA; the margins are usually irregular. Alkalitolerant. Grow at pH 8-11
and at 30-40 ºC (no growth at 50 ºC). Aerobic; facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from raw milk and feed concentrate from dairy farms.
Undetermined.
