Kang, Yeo and Oh 2005.
Description is based upon a single isolate.
Gram-positive, 0.4–0.5 x 1.5–3.0 μm rods, motile by a single polar flagellum. Produce
ellipsoidal spores, positioned centrally / subterminally in swollen sporangia.
Colonies are ivory, sticky, glistening, smooth, raised, circular to slightly irregular, 2-4
mm in diameter after 5 days at 30 ºC on 2-fold diluted nutrient agar (pH 7.5).
Aerobic. No anaerobic growth. Growth temperature 10 to 37 ºC, optimum 30 ºC. Grow
at 7.0-9.5 pH (optimum 7.5) but not at 6.5 or 10. Negative growth in 5% and 7% NaCl.
Isolated from alkaline soil, Kwangchun, Korea.
Resistant to cephalothin, ampicillin. Sensitive to streptomycin, lincomycin, oleandomycin, polymyxin B, penicillin G, chloramphenicol,
gentamicin, novobiocin, tetracycline and kanamycin.
Undetermined.

Positive results for oxidase, catalase, hydrolysis of esculin, hydrolysis of starch and
hydrolysis of Tween 80.

Negative results for hydrolysis of urea, nitrate reduction, hydrolysis of agar, hydrolysis of casein, hydrolysis of gelatin, hydrolysis of
hypoxanthine, hydrolysis of xanthine, Voges-Proskauer test, arginine dihydrolase, lysine decarboxylase, ornithine decarboxylase,
tryptophan deaminase, indole production, degradation of tyrosine, citrate utilization, hydrolysis of Tween 60 40
