Aeromonas simiae
Harf-Monteil et al. 2004.
Gram-negative, straight rods. Motile by a polar flagellum.
Grow in nutrient broth with 0 and 1% NaCl. No growth in 6% NaCl. No brown diffusible
pigment is produced on TSA. Beta-hemolysis on 5% sheep blod agar is negative.
Optimal growth occurs at 30 ºC after 24 hours on trypticase soy agar or sheep-blood
agar, but strains also grow at 42 ºC after 24 hours.
Isolated from the faeces of a monkey (Macaca fascicularis), Louis Pasteur University, Strasbourg, France.
Resistant to vibriostatic agent O/129 and ampicillin. Susceptible to cephalothin.
Undetermined.
