Gram-negative, rod-shaped cells. Motile by a polar flagellum.
Optimal growth occurs after 24 hours at 28 ºC on TSA medium, but all strains also
grow at 37 ºC in broth. Beta-hemolysis on sheep blood agar is not produced. One
isolate displayed weak hemolytic activity after 7 days of incubation. Brown diffusible
pigment is not produced. No growth in the presence of 3, 6, 8 and 10% (wt/vol) NaCl.
Grow in KCN broth.
Isolated from drinking water production plants and reservoirs.
Resistant to vibriostatic agent O/129 (150 µg), amoxicillin, ampicillin, clarithromycin, oxacillin, penicillin G, teicoplanin and vancomycin.

(corn oil), DN-ase, Voges–Proskauer test, gelatin hydrolysis, acid production from:
D-glucose (with gas production), glycerol, D-galactose, D-mannitol, D-mannose,
maltose, methyl-D-glucoside & D-trehalose.

Negative results for esculin hydrolysis, urease, tryptophan deaminase, ornithine decarboxylase, lysine decarboxylase, acetate
utilization, acid production from: adonitol, D-arabitol, D-cellobiose, dulcitol, erythritol, myo-inositol, lactose, D-melibiose, D-raffinose, L-
rhamnose, salicin, D-sorbitol, D-sucrose & D-xylose.
