Gram-positive cocci, non-motile, grouped in pairs, tetrads or small groups.
Non-spore-forming.
Alpha-hemolytic, small (under 1 mm diameter), entire colonies on Columbia horse
blood agar.  Non-pigmented. Growth occurs in 6.5% (w/v) NaCl. Grow at 37 and 30 ºC.
Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from human urine. Habitat is not known.

Positive results for alkaline phosphatase, acetoin production, aesculin hydrolysis,
hippurate hydrolysis, C4 esterase, acid phosphatase, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, beta-glucuronidase, beta-glucosidase,
urease, acid production (after 7 days incubation at 30 ºC)  from: aesculin ferric citrate, arbutin, cellobiose, D-fructose, glycerol,  
D-glucose, maltose, D-ribose, salicin, sucrose & trehalose.

Negative results for arginine hydrolysis, catalase, oxidase, C8 esterase, C14 lipase, leucine aminopeptidase, valine aminopeptidase,
cystine aminopeptidase, trypsin, chymotrypsin, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, alpha-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase,
