Vandamme et al. 2001.
Gram-positive, large ovoid cells, occurring in short chains. Non-motile. Non-spore-
forming.
Colonies on 5% blood agar are small, viridans streptococcus-like, alpha-haemolytic
and non-pigmented. Facultatively anaerobic. No growth at 10 or 45 ºC. Most strains
grow in 6.5% NaCl. No growth on Bile-esculin agar.
Isolated from animal (ruminants, pig, calves) clinical specimens. Vancomycin-sensitive. Resistant to neomycin, erythromycin,
clindamycin, and lincomycin.
Isolated from purulent joint and lung infections in calves, from a lung lesion of a sheep, and from a joint infection of a pig.
