1999.
Gram-positive, ovoid cells, 0.8-0.9 µm in diameter, occurring in pairs or short chains.
Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on Columbia agar (Difco) supplemented with 5% horse blood at 37 ºC are
alpha-haemolytic and non-pigmented. Facultatively anaerobic. Grows in 5% NaCl.
Isolated from human clinical samples (haemoculture of a 72-year-old man). Habitat is unknown.
Undetermined.

Positive results for esterase C-4 (weak reaction),  hippurate hydrolysis, pyroglutamic
acid arylamidase, leucine arylamidase, acid production from: D-arabitol, glucose,
maltose, mannitol, sorbitol, sucrose & trehalose..

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, alanine-phenylalanine-proline arylamidase, catalase, esculin hydrolysis, alpha-fucosidase,
gelatin hydrolysis, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, beta-galacturonidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, beta-glucuronidase, lipase
C-14, nitrate reduction, alpha-mannosidase, N-acetylglucosaminidase, glycyl-trytophan arylamidase, oxidase, chymotrypsin, trypsin,
valine arylamidase, urease, Voges-Proskauer reaction, acid production from: L- arabinose, cyclodextrin, glycogen,
methyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside, lactose, melibiose, melezitose, pullulan, raffinose, ribose & tagatose.

Variable results for acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase & cystine arylamidase activity.
