Gram-positive cocci, nonmotile, nonsporing, (0.89-1.21 μm in diameter). Occur singly
or grouped in pairs or tetrads.
Colonies are 2-4 mm in diameter (48h), circular, smooth, glossy, non-pigmented and
nonhemolytic. Growth temperature 15-36 ºC. No growth at 4 and 42 ºC. Grow in 4%
NaCl but not in 7.5% NaCl. Media: Trypticase Soy Agar ± 5% sheep blood,  P agar.
The type strain was isolated from llama skin (Lama glama L.). Resistant to novobiocin.
