Phylum Proteobacteria, Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Pseudomonadales, Family Pseudomonadaceae, Genus Pseudomonas,
Pseudomonas segetis Park et al. 2006.
Gram-negative, nonspore-forming, rod-shaped cells, 1.1-1.3 x 0.7-0.8 μm, motile by
means of a polar flagellum.
Colonies on Nutrient agar are translucent, butyrous, cream-coloured, circular, convex
& 1-2 mm in diameter after 2 days growth at 30 ºC. Does not produce fluorescent
pigment on King B medium.
Aerobic, grows at temperatures between 4 and 35 ºC, but not at 37 ºC. Tolerates NaCl
at concentrations up to 5% on Nutrient agar. Grows very poorly under anaerobic
conditions (anaerobic chamber containing CO2/H2/N2 at 10 : 10 : 80, by vol.).
Isolated from soil samples in Korea.

esterase (C4), leucine arylamidase, assimilation of: caprate, citrate, potassium gluconate, glucose, arabinose, mannose, mannitol,
phenylacetic acid & malate.
Negative for beta-galactosidase, lysine decarboxylase, ornithine decarboxylase, esculin hydrolysis, H2S production, urease,
tryptophan deaminase, indole production, gelatinase, valine arylamidase, beta-glucosidase, cystine arylamidase, lipase (C14),
trypsin and alpha-chymotrypsin, alpha-galactosidase, beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha-glucosidase, beta-
glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, alpha-mannosidase, alpha-fucosidase, egg-yolk hydrolysis, L-tyrosine hydrolysis,
urease, assimilation of: N-acetylglucosamine, maltose, & adipate, acidification of glucose, fermentation/oxidation of glucose,
mannitol, inositol, sorbitol, rhamnose, sucrose, melibiose, amygdalin & arabinose.
