Gram-negative cells, nonspore-forming.
Colonies are circular and white–yellow on Luria Bertani agar. Does not produce a
fluorescent pigment on King’s B medium. Optimal temperature 30 ºC. Does not grow
at 41 ºC or in media supplemented with 5 or 7%NaCl. Media: Mineral medium
(Brunner), King’s B medium, Luria Bertani agar, Nutrient agar.
Isolated from soil samples.

Utilizes salicylic acid, 4-chlorosalicylic acid, degradation of 2- and 3-chlorodibenzofuran
in mixed culture with
Sphingomonas spp.

Positive for oxidase, hydrolysis of arginine, utilization of: L-arabinose, D-galactose,
alpha-D-glucose, D-mannitol, methyl pyruvate, cis-aconitic acid, citric acid, D-galactonic
acid lactone, D-galacturonic acid, D-gluconic acid, D-glucuronic acid, beta-hydroxybutyric acid, alpha-ketoglutaric acid, DL-lactic acid,
quinic acid, D-saccharic acid, succinic acid, bromosuccinic acid, D-alanine, L-alanine, L-asparagine, L-histidine, L-aspartic acid,
L-glutamic acid, hydroxy-L-proline, L-proline, L-serine, DL-carnitine, caminobutyric acid, L-pyroglutamic acid, urocanic acid, glycerol,
D-mannose, monomethyl succinate, D-glucosaminic acid, 2-aminoethanol & putresceine.

Negative for nitrates reduction, Tween 80 hydrolysis, lecithinase, urease, beta-galactosidase, esculin  hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis,
indole production, glucose fermentation, utilization of: dextrin , Tween 40, Tween 80, N-Acetyl-D-glucosamine, D-arabitol, D-fructose ,
acetic acid, alpha-hydroxybutyric acid, formic acid, malonic acid, propionic acid, p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid, succinamic acid,
glucuronamide, alaninamide, L-alanyl glycine, L-leucine, L-ornithine, L-phenylalanine, phenylethylamine, D-serine, L-threonine,
inosine, uridine  & DL-alpha-glycerol phosphate.
