Gram-negative, nonspore-forming rods, motile by one polar flagellum. Cells produce
a fluorescent pigment on King B medium, but not phenazine pigments on King A
medium. Poly-beta-hydroxybutyrate is not accumulated as a carbon reserve material.
It is able to form levan from sucrose. Colonies on nutrient agar are smooth, circular
and non-pigmented. Non-haemolytic on blood agar.
Growth temperature ranges between 4 and 36 ºC; optimal at 30 ºC. Growth occurs in
the presence of 3% NaCl but not in 7 % NaCl.
Isolated from Lebanese spring waters.

Voges-Proskauer reaction, maltitol, sucrose, alpha-L-fucose, D-turanose, alpha-D-melibiose, D-raffinose, maltotriose, maltose,
D-cellobiose, beta-gentiobiose, palatinose, D-tagatose, alpha-lactose, lactulose, 1 - O-methyl-beta-galactopyranoside, 1 - O-methyl
