Differential characters of Kingella species:
Colonies are circular, low convex, yellow-pigmented, smooth, entire, approximately 1.5 to 2 mm in diameter, and friable on Columbia
blood agar after 48 h of incubation at 37 ºC. Colonies are nonhemolytic. Nondiffusible yellow pigments are produced. Aerobic.

Gram-negative rods. Nonmotile. Endospores are not formed.
Isolated from the human wound caused by a kinkajou (Potos flavus) bite.
Susceptible to ampicillin, amoxicillin, co-amoxiclav, penicillin, cefotaxime, ciprofloxacin, ceftriaxone, imipenem, and meropenem.
Resistant to erythromycin, clarithromycin, clindamycin, gentamicin, tetracycline, chloramphenicol, and trimethoprim.
Isolated from an infected wound.
