Colonies on Oxoid nutrient agar containing10% horse or ox serum are nonpigmented
and about 1.0–1.5 mm in diameter. On BSTSY agar, the colonies are about 1.0–2.0
mm in diameter and exhibit a pale yellow pigmentation. Nonhemolytic. Aerobic.
Optimal temperature 37 ºC. Noncorroding colonies.

Gram-negative cells, grouped in multicellular ﬁlaments that are ﬂat rather than
cylindrical and often segmented into groups of two or four cells. Cell dimensions
varies from 2.0 to 3.0 μm in diameter, and 0.6 μm in length. The long axis of the
individual cells is perpendicular to the long axis of the ﬁlament. Gliding motility of the
entire ﬁlament in the direction of the long axis when the ﬂat side of the ﬁlament is in
contact with a surface. Endospores are not formed.
Isolated from the oral cavity of guinea pigs, sheep, and cows.
Inhabitant of the oral cavity of warm-blooded vertebrates, where it apparently is nonpathogenic.
