Flamm 1956. The taxonomic position of M. saccharolytica is uncertain.
Gram-negative cells.
Colonies are nonhemolytic. Aerobe. Growth occurs at 22-37 ºC.
Isolated from from the cerebrospinal fluid of a child with meningitis. Resistant to streptomycin, chloramphenicol, and tetracycline.
Undetermined; may be a cause of meningitis.

Positive results for catalase, aesculin hydrolysis, gelatin liquefaction, methyl red test,
acid production from fructose, glycerol & saccharose.
