Phylum Firmicutes, Class Bacilli, Order Lactobacillales, Family Enterococcaceae, Genus Vagococcus, Vagococcus humatus
Sundararaman et al. 2017.
Gram-positive cocci, 1-1.5 µm. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
After 3 days of incubation at 37 ºC on TSA, colonies are 0.5-1 mm in diameter, pale
yellow, smooth, convex and circular with regular edges. Temperature range for growth
is 25-42 ºC, optimally at 37 ºC. Weak growth is observed at 20 and 42 ºC. The pH
range for growth is 6.0-9.0, optimally 7.0. Can grow in 4% (w/v) NaCl in TSB, optimally
in the absence of NaCl. Aerobic; no anaerobic growth.
