Gram-positive cocci, 1-1.5 µm. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
After 3 days of incubation at 37 ºC on TSA, colonies are 0.5-1 mm in diameter, pale
yellow, smooth, convex and circular with regular edges. Temperature range for growth
is 25-42 ºC, optimally at 37 º
C. Weak growth is observed at 20 and 42 ºC. The pH
range for growth is 6.0-9.0, optimally 7.0. Can grow in 4% (w/v) NaCl in TSB, optimally
in the absence of NaCl. Aerobic; no anaerobic growth.
Isolated from the soil beneath a decomposing pig carcass in Korea.

Positive results for N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, acid and alkaline phosphatase, alpha-chymotrypsin, cystine arylamidase,
esterase (C4), alpha-glucosidase & leucine arylamidase.
Can assimilate: hippuric acid, L-leucine beta-naphthylamide, trehalose, 4-nitrophenyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside, 4-nitrophenyl alpha-L-
arabinofuropyranoside, 4-nitrophenyl-beta-D-glucuronide, 4-nitrophenyl-N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminide, D-mannose, raffinose,
glutamic acid, potassium nitrate, L-proline beta-naphthylamide, L-leucyl-L-glycine beta-naphthylamide, L-leucine beta-naphthylamide,
pyroglutamic acid beta-naphthylamide, L-tyrosine beta-naphthylamide, L-alanyl-L-alanine beta-naphthylamide, L-glycine beta-
naphthylamide, L-histidine beta-naphthylamide, L-glutamyl-L-glutamic acid beta-naphthylamide & starch hydrolysis.


Negative results for esterase
lipase (C8), alpha-fucosidase, esculin hydrolysis, alpha- and beta-galactosidase (PNPG and OPNG),
b
eta-glucuronidase, alpha-mannosidase, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, trypsin & valine arylamidase.
No assimilation of: L-arabinose, D-mannitol, D-sorbitol, L-arginine, 4-nitrophenyl-alpha-L-fucopyranoside, 2-naphthyl-phosphate & L-
serine beta-naphthylamide.
