Gram-positive cocci, elongated in the direction of the chain. Non-motile.
Colonies after 3 days on TSA are smooth, white and convex, 0.2 mm in diameter.
Hemolysis is not produced. Grows well at 15-37 ºC, but not at 4 or 42 ºC) and at pH
4.0-9.0. Growth occurs with 0-1.0 % (w/v) NaCl, but not with 2.0 % (w/v) NaCl.
Facultatively anaerobic. Grows weakly on MRS agar and NA.
Isolated from an acidogenic fermentation bioreactor in a food wastewater treatment plant in Naju province, South Korea.

Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, cystine arylamidase, alpha-chymotrypsin, esterase lipase (C4), esterase lipase
(C8), alpha-glucosidase, leucine arylamidase, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, acid production from: adonitol, amygdalin, arbutin,
D- and L-arabitol, cellobiose, dulcitol, esculin, D-fructose, D-glucose, gluconate, glycerol, methyl alpha-D-glucopyranoside,
N-acetylglucosamine, D-galactose, gentiobiose, inositol (weak reaction), lactose, D-mannitol, maltose, D-ribose, sucrose,
D-tagatose, trehalose, turanose, D-xylose & xylitol.
Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, catalase, alpha-fucosidase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, beta-glucosidase, beta-
glucuronidase, gelatin hydrolysis, H2S production, indole production, lipase (C14), alpha-mannosidase, N-acetyl-beta-
glucosaminidase, nitrate reduction to nitrite, oxidase, trypsin, urease, valine arylamidase, acid production from: D- and L-arabinose,
erythritol, D- and L-fucose, glycogen, inulin, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, D-lyxose, D-mannose, methyl alpha-D-mannopyranoside,
melibiose, melezitose, raffinose, L-rhamnose, starch, D-sorbitol, L-sorbose, salicin & L-xylose.
