Phylum Firmicutes, Class Bacilli, Order Lactobacillales, Family Enterococcaceae, Genus Enterococcus, Enterococcus termitis  Svec
et al. 2006.
Gram-positive elongated cocci, grouped in pairs, short chains or small groups.
Nonmotile.
Colonies on sheep blood agar are nonpigmented, shiny, circular, smooth with entire
margins and about 1 mm in diameter after 24 hours of cultivation at 37 ºC. Grow on
Todd–Hewitt agar, BHI agar and MRS (less abundant). Poor growth and small dark-
red colonies are produced on Slanetz–Bartley medium containing 0.04% sodium
azide. Growth is positive at 10-45 ºC in BHI broth, in 6.5% NaCl medium and pH 9.6.
Isolated from the gut of a termite.
Unknown.
