Colonies on Antarctic Bacterial Medium (ABM) are irregular, 1 mm in diameter,
wrinkled, moist, viscous, violet, opaque and flat with curled margins. Optimum growth
temperature is 18 ºC. Unable to grow at 37 ºC (growth limits are 4-30 ºC). Strictly
aerobic. NaCl is not required for growth. Can grow in the presence of 0.5% NaCl.
Grows at pH 5-7 with an optimum pH of 7.
ABM contains peptone (0.5%, w/v), yeast extract (0.2%, w/v) and agar (2%, w/v).
