Phylum Firmicutes, Class Bacilli, Order Bacillales, Family Bacillaceae, Genus Bacillus, Bacillus trypoxylicola Aizawa, Urai, Iwabuchi,
Nakajima and Sunairi 2010.
Gram-positive, non-motile rods, 0.6 x 0.8-2.0 µm. Produce terminal, ellipsoidal
endospores in slightly swollen sporangia.
Colonies are  yellowish, circular, flat, with entire margins after 3 days at 30 ºC on ATS
(alkaline tryptic soy medium) agar (pH 9.0). Alkaliphilic organism. Aerobic. No
anaerobic growth. Growth temperature 17 - 37 ºC (optimum 30 ºC), pH 8 - 10.
(optimum pH 9) and  0-5% NaCl.
Isolated from the guts of Japanese horned beetle larvae (Trypoxylus dichotomus septentrionalis, Scarabeidae, Coleoptera).
Resistant to metronidazole, flumequine, kanamycin, oxolinic acid, sulfamethizole and nitrofurantoin.
Sensitive to amoxicillin, apramycin, augmentin, cephalothin, cefoperazone, chloramphenicol, doxycycline, gentamicin, penicillin,
colistin, erythromycin, lincomycin, oxacillin, rifampicin, streptomycin, tylosin and tetracycline.
