Phylum Proteobacteria, Class Betaproteobacteria, Order Burkholderiales, Family Alcaligenaceae, Genus Paralcaligenes,
Paralcaligenes ureilyticus Kim et al. 2011, type species of the genus.
Gram-negative rods. Motile by one polar flagellum. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies circular, convex, and milky white. Grows on R2A and nutrient agar (Difco).
Weak growth on tryptic soy agar (Difco). No growth on MacConkey agar (Difco).
Growth occurs at  28 ºC. Strictly aerobic.
Isolated from soil cultivated with Korean ginseng.
Undetermined.

Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, catalase, esterase, leucine
arylamidase, nitrate reduction, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, oxidase & urease.
Can assimilate: sodium acetate, propionic acid, valeric acid, 3-hydroxybutyric acid, itaconic acid, lactic acid, potassium
2-ketogluconate & L-proline.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, cystine arylamidase, esterase lipase (C8), alpha-fucosidase, gelatin hydrolysis, alpha- and
beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, indole production,
alpha-mannosidase, lipase (C14), valine arylamidase, trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin & glucose fermentation.

No assimilation of: L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, D-maltose, L-rhamnose, D-ribose, inositol,
D-saccharose, potassium 5-ketogluconate, glycogen, salicin, D-melibiose, L-fucose, D-glucose, potassium gluconate, capric acid,
adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, phenylacetic acid, suberic acid, sodium malonate, L-alanine, 3-hydroxybenzoic acid,
L-serine, D-sorbitol, L-histidine & 4-hydroxybenzoic acid.
