Gram-negative small rods with rounded ends, 0.2 x 1.2 μm, occuring single or in
pairs. Motile.
Colonies are slightly convex, translucent and non-pigmented, with smooth margins,
and 0.5-1 mm in diameter after 72 h of incubationon trypticase soy agar at 28 ºC.
Weakly haemolytic on horse blood agar. Weakly growth on cetrimide agar. No growth
on acetamide.
Can grow at 30, 37 and 42 ºC. Growth occurs in nutrient broth with 3% NaCl (not in
4% NaCl). No fluorescence on King’s B medium. Aerobic and anaerobic growth.
Isolated from sputum of cystic fibrosis patient in Sweden.

Positive results for acid phosphatase (weak), catalase, C4-lipase, leucine arylamidase & oxidase.
Can utilize: D-gluconate, citrate, D-lactate, adipate, L-malate (negative in API 20 NE) & phenylacetate (negative in API 20 NE).

Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, amylase, ONPG, PNPG, DNase, lysine decarboxylase, ornithine decarboxylase, arginine
dihydrolase; nitrate reduction, nitrite reduction and denitrification; liquefaction of gelatin, hydrolysis of aesculin and Tween 80; indole
production, H
2S production in TSI agar, C8-lipase, C14-lipase, valine arylamidase, cystine arylamidase, trypsin, chymotrypsin, alpha-
and  beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, alpha-mannosidase,
urease, acid production from: D-glucose, maltose, adonitol, D-fructose and D-xylose;
No utilization of: D-glucose, trehalose, L-arginine, DL-norleucine, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine,
maltose, caprate & sucrose.
