Family Aeromonadaceae
Gram-negative, straight, rigid, nonsporeforming, motile rods. Facultatively
anaerobic. Chemoorganotrophic. Catalase positive. Oxidase positive with some
exceptions. Generally mesophilic, but psychrophilic species do exist. Usually
aquatic, frequently isolated from water and aquatic animals
