Gram-positive straight to slightly curved rods. Non-motile. Non-acid-fast.
Grows on Columbia agar (Difco) with 5% horse blood at 37 ºC in air plus 5% CO2 .
Facultative anaerobic.
Isolated from pig mastitis. Habitat is not known.
Undetermined.

Description is based on API Coryne and API rapid ID32 Strep results.

Positive results for esculin hydrolysis, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, alpha- and beta-
glucosidase,  
pyrazinamidase (weak reaction), Voges-Proskauer test (weak reaction), acid production from L-arabinose (weak
reaction), D-glucose, melibiose, D-raffinose, pullulan, ribose (weak reaction), sucrose a
nd D-xylose.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, catalase, gelatin hydrolysis, beta-glucuronidase, hippurate hydrolysis, beta-
mannosidase,
nitrate reduction, urease, acid production from
D-arabitol, methyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside, lactose, mannitol, melezitose, sorbitol,
tagatose and trehalose.


Variable results for alkaline phosphatase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase
, acid production from inositol and maltose.
