Gram-positive straight and slightly curved rods, some of which with branching.
Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
It was cultured on Columbia agar (Difco) supplemented with 5% horse blood at 37 ºC  
in air plus 5% CO
2. Facultative anaerobic.
Isolated from dog clinical specimens. Habitat is not known.
Isolated from vagina of a dog with infertility, from chest purulent material from a bitch with fatal pyogranulomatous pleurisy and from a
subcutaneous abscess. The microorganism was isolated in mixed culture with
Pasteurella spp., Streptococcus spp., Bacteroides
spp., or Fusobacterium spp.

Positive results for catalase, cystine arylamidase (weak reaction), alpha-fucosidase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, alpha-
glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, leucine arylamidase, pyrazinamidase, acid production from: L-arabinose, D-glucose,
glycogen, lactose, maltose, pullulan, ribose & xylose.

Negative results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, arginine dihydrolase, chymotrypsin, esculin hydrolysis, esterase C4, ester lipase
C8 (weak reaction), gelatin hydrolysis, beta-glucosidase, beta-glucuronidase, hippurate hydrolysis, alpha-mannosidase, lipase C14,
nitrate reduction, pyrrolidonyl arylamidase, trypsin, urease, valine arylamidase, Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from:
D-arabitol, cyclodextrin, mannitol, melibiose, melezitose, methyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside, sorbitol, tagatose & trehalose.

Variable results for acid production from raffinose & sucrose (saccharose).
